The human race is where it's at today purely because of two emotions.
Love and fear.
Had the first forms of human life been fearless, they would've died out (along with the human race) because they wouldn't have been afraid to go discover something new. There would've been no bell going off in the back of their heads saying "Hey, maybe we shouldn't do this!"
Fear has been what's keeping the human species on its toes; always ready with a fight or flight instinct.
We have distinctly love to thanks to be here today because love is the reason as to why human are reproducing.
For billions of years, love and fear have fun the earth.
The reason as to why we do something that's scary is because the weight of their confidence and love for something is bigger than their fear of being on the ice.
Humans have stayed and have done something to remind themselves of home.
Humans are incredible at he best of times.
They're capable of trying something new because their love of fear is simply bigger and greater than their fear.
Deciding to try something new is not necessarily being brave, but it's knowing that you have emotions stronger than the emotion of fear that's making you do something new.

Become Infatuated
I want to start off this post by saying that I'm terribly sorry for being off-schedule with my posts recently. I do try to keep it to every Sunday and Wednesday as much as possible, but work and school have to come first and by the end of the day, I'm usually exhausted and don't have the energy to write. I'm starting to find a bit more of a balance, but bear with me at the moment!
I take any chance I get to appreciate and thank you all for reading my blog. It's an absolute shock to me that so many people take time to read about my life and to even leave comments and I'm just so honored that I can write blog content that you enjoy to read.
I love all of my readers so much, I really do. There's a few people in particular that comes to mind when I think of my blog because I know that they're reading and they leave the loveliest comments and I'm so grateful for that.
But as much as I love you all and turn to you guys first with any news that I have, I've been holding back a little bit with some news and I really want to share it with you.
I have a boyfriend.
Yeah, I might've build that up to be something that you're now wondering "Why would you tell us this? It doesn't affect our life in any way."
Yes, it might not have a single impact on your life, but I don't want to talk about being him necessarily, but the feeling of being with him.
That sentence probably sounded very odd to you, but bear with me once again.
This is my first boyfriend and I have to say that things are going great, he's great and it's just amazing.
We spend quite a bit of time together, not just in school but also outside of school. We've had a few movie marathons, a few library sessions for homework and coffeeshop studying.
The more time I spend with him, the more I become infatuated with him.
I don't want any of you to think "Of course you're becoming infatuated with him; you're dating him!"
This is the first person I've stumbled across in my life that I hate saying goodnight to.
Within both of my schools, I've seen friends so close that they text each other in the early hours of the morning, arrive to school and stick together, text each other when they're in different classes, stick together again and then text them on the way home and the cycle repeats itself. They can't see themselves being apart from the other, they're constantly communicating to fill in the void of not having the other there in person.
I've never had a person in my life like that until now.
I am telling you this today because you don't have to only be infatuated with a boyfriend/girlfriend, it can be anyone; an acquaintance, a friend, a best friend, absolutely anyone.
We've been dating for a little bit over a month now, things could honestly go in any direction for us, but that's what you always have to remember in life.
You never know what's going to be around the corner for you or the people in your life. If you find someone that you just want to spend all night talking to whether it's about jokes, 2am conversations that you'll barely remember the next day or conspiracy theories, seize the chance and do it.
It took me over a decade to find someone that I don't want to say goodnight to and I don't plan on that changing anytime soon.
If you have someone in your life at the moment that you infatuated with, platonically or not, seize it. Don't find a reason to be staying up until 2am talking about why you think aliens exist, just do it.
As I mentioned before, you never know what life might have for you just around the corner. If you're afraid to become infatuated with someone because you don't know what the outcome will be, do it.
Of course you never know what will happen and things could change and they become bittersweet memories for you, but they'll return to happy memories because you'll remember how you loved those early hour conversations.
This might be something that you might not have needed to read because you already know this, but it's always good to be reminded to go for the things that you might be scared to do.
Get lost in the conversations, have time to yourselves, go for adventures, do whatever it is with someone that you're besotted with.
I have no other reason to tell you why you should do that besides the fact that you're young.
We're all bound to make mistakes, we focus too much on school and finding/having a job that we forget to enjoy yourselves and get lost in a moment with someone else.
I'm not necessarily recommending that you stay up until 2am texting someone that you're besotted with on a school night, but I am recommending that you do something with them that you don't do with anyone else.
Life is going to seem very short when we're all looking back on it; don't be afraid to spend it being smitten (once again platonically or not) with someone and creating memories that will make you both laugh and cringe.

Love/Hate Tag
I was tagged by the incredibly kind, sweet and amazing makinglifeacamera to do the love/hate tag. I haven't read too any of the Love/Hate Tag posts by other bloggers, but I'm super excited to be nominated and to be able to read more posts!
The rules:
- State 10 things you love and 10 things you hate.
- Tag 10 other bloggers to do the challenge.
Ten Things I Love:
- Music. I love playing either my guitar or bass, I love listening to music or anything involved with music.
- Photography. It's the worst when I get to the place and I think to myself that I should've brought my good camera (Canon Rebel T5i), but I love it when I remember to bring it along with me!
- Talking to my friends. I love to feel connected with the world and talking with my friends is a great way to do so.
- Teaching little kids. I'm a swim teacher, and I love it when a smaller kid realizes that they can do something by themselves for the first time ever.
- Waking up to rain. It gives off a calming effect for me.
- Learning about history. I also work in an immigration museum and I find the history of immigration fascinating. I also find the stories of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table even more fascinating.
- This might seem a little odd a first, but I love contact. Whether it's a hug, holding hands or someone playing with my hair, I love having the feeling of knowing that someone is right there.
- Dogs. I absolutely adore dogs, especially mildly big dogs such as Golden Retrievers, Labs, Duck Tollers, so on and so forth. My grandmother has a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Duck Toller and we're pretty good pals. When my family dog sitted her, I admit to spending the most time with her because I hogged her for myself.
- Reading. I love how reading can easily put me in a different time era or an unimaginable situation which makes me imagine what I would do in a character's place.
- Youtube. I might spend a total of an hour or two on there a day...but that's okay for now...
Ten Things I Hate:
- Tomatoes. I never grew to like them and I especially hate cherry tomatoes.
- When I lose things. I was handed a slip of paper with my next shifts on them for working at the museum, and let's just say that I'll be looking for it once I finish this blog post.
- When my eyeliner looks perfect on one eye, yet on the other it looks uneven. This still happens to me and it's frustrating at times.
- When the apps on my phone randomly shut down. I'll try to look for work emails, but my phone will freeze and shut the app. I'll just start turning my phone off more.
- Insanely loud environments. I'm not a fan of walking into a place when I didn't expect loud noises. I'm fine at concerts per example, but not school dances or events at school in general.
- Being a perfectionist. I feel as though nothing is ever good enough. For example, I can take photos at the same angle and with the same lighting, but I could stare at them for hours trying to figure out which one is the better photo.
- Walking around alone in the dark. If I have a friend with me, then I actually enjoy it, but when I'm alone, I jump at every little sound.
- Math. I've never been a fan of the class or the subject in general, but it must be done.
- When people don't know where to cross the line. You don't know who around you can overhear what you think is a hilarious rape or race joke, there are subjects that you should never joke about.
- Writing on a partition for music. My music teacher from last year would have student highlight specific things on the partition. I could never bring myself to write on my partitions, let alone highlight specific elements.
There you go! Thats the Love/Hate Tag and I had a great time writing this!
I nominate:
Please let me know if I spelt your blog name wrong or the link isn't quite right and I'll fix it right away! I hope that you all decided to do this tag, I'll look forward to reading them!

Don't Apologize For Who You Are
This is something a little new for me seeing as I'm writing this post from a hotel room and not at my desk in my room at home. It's something new and interesting, but I don't think it'll happen often.
Anyway, you all might be wondering as to why I'm writing my post from a hotel room, and the reason to that is because I'm currently away for my last softball tournament of the year, also known as the biggest softball tournament of the year.
From home to where I'm currently at, this has been the farthest distance we've ever gone for softball and it's quite the experience. It's not so much a culture shock, but for the traveling and the people we meet, it's all quite different.
However, there is a big culture shock to everyone else on my team.
We're currently in a city that mainly speaks French. I have no problem with this at all seeing as I'm bilingual with both French and English, but everyone is having a little bit of a difficult time at some points.
It's not too difficult for them seeings as most people we deal with here are also bilingual, but sometimes the accent is too strong or the English of someone from here is too broken up.
I haven't had the chance to hear the experiences of the girls on my team because most of them have only arrived tonight, but I've been helping out the girl on my team that I've been traveling with.
I've been speaking French to the locals and I've been enjoying it. Their French is different from my French, so it's pretty amazing to listen to a different dialect of the same language. It doesn't make it more difficult to understand them, it's just a small but noticeable difference which is really neat.
Tonight I went out for a team supper with the majority of the girls on my team and it was alright. Service was a little slow, but that was expected with 14 people in one party.
I was the last one to order my drink and food, but when I did, I told the waitress my order in French.
She didn't mind at all and went to go bring our orders to the kitchen.
One girl on my team said "You don't have to order in French, they also speak English." I responded with "Yeah, I guess you're right," and shook it off.
She wasn't right, though. in fact, she was wrong.
Her telling me to speak English when I grew up bilingual to someone who grew up with French as their first language was wrong.
It was wrong, but I apologized for it.
I was apologizing for being myself.
I can speak French, I started to learn it at a young age and I'm proud of it.
On my team, my dad helps out with the coaching at times and I will speak to him in French. On a few different occasions, I've heard some of the girls mumbling to each other that we should speak English.
I understand that it can be uncomfortable for people to be around other people speaking a language that they don't understand, but it's what the world is.
The world is made up of so many different traditions, cultures, languages, and so much more, but people are on most occasions too afraid to learn about them.
Yes, I'll speak French in an English environment and I'm proud of it. Just because you don't understand the deeper meaning it has to me and why I hold my French so close to me doesn't matter to me, but you should never put me down for it.
No one should ever put you down for what you hold close to you, whether its a passion, a language, a tradition, a culture and so on.
All of those little things make up who you are and apologizing for a single one of them is like apologizing for who you are.
No one should ever put you down for being who you are. If they don't understand something, you can always try to explain it, but if they don't want to bother with that, then that's there problem.
They can live the rest of their life not understand something that's part of who you are and that's their problem.
Be proud of every single little part of you because it's the only person you know you'll be with for the rest of your life.
Stand tall, be proud and be you.

Eternal Love
Whenever I heard the term "eternal love" when I was younger, I would always immediately think of couples and families.
As I got older, I started to realize that you didn't only have to have an eternal love for someone but also something.
Last night, I got to really see that.
Granted I didn't write a post yesterday, but I was out at a jazz festival concert with my family.
I went with my parents, my aunt and uncle, and also my two older cousins (one of which was my cousin who's currently visiting from New York).
My city is currently holding a jazz festival and the show we went to last night was Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings.
All I can say about that performance is "Wow."
Sharon has an insane amount of energy, the band was incredible and the show was amazing.
When my family and I got through the gates, we went to sit in the bleachers,
After a little while, I started to feel claustrophobic. The bleachers were so packed that once you sat down, you were in and couldn't get out without having to get at least one person to move.
I really didn't like it, I focused more on the people around me rather than the show and I hated that. I can't enjoy the things I want to go to because I get to worked up about other things.
My cousin got me to go dance with her, and once we were out of the bleachers, she told me that she got me because I looked bored. I told her what was really going through my mind and she walked around with me, brought me to a less crowded area and held my hand or had her arm around me for the remaining of the time.
I was really grateful for that.
Because of my cousins' actions, I was able to focus more on the concert.
Before my cousin got me out of the bleachers, I could really only focus on the people around me.
I saw old friends meeting up for the first time in awhile to enjoy a concert together, I saw couples enjoying each others company, I saw friends run into other friends that didn't know they were also going to the concert, I saw others families meet up, I saw people who didn't care who was watching them but would dance anyway and I saw people watch or do something their passionate about.
You don't have to meet a person to know what they love, nor to find out what one of their eternal loves are and I think that's an amazing thing.
None of you know me, but you all seem to know that one of my eternal loves is writing.
You can love something and you can have passion for something, but once you have both of those things together, I think that's when it's eternal love.
Even though I was uncomfortable at the concert, I still liked being able to take my time and properly look at the people around me.
When you catch someone doing what they love without the other persons knowledge, you know its real and it's pretty amazing.

"Interest At First Sight"
I'm a big quote fanatic. I love reading quotes, breaking them down, learning about who wrote them and why they said it.
I think it's the fact that the meaning of a quote could mean one thing to me and something completely different to someone else. It inspires people in their own personal way.
A quote that everyone seems to know is "It was like love at first sight."
Now people usually tend to think of people or book/movie characters when they hear the quote. Who doesn't love the idea of being able to look at someone in the eyes from across the room and just knowing that they're the one?
That would be incredibly special.
For me though, that quote is more for items. Whether I'm shopping, listening to music, reading a book, I can fall in love instantly.
I just personally don't think it's fair to say the same about a person.
How do you fall in love with someone by a quick glance of the eye and know you want to spend the rest of your life with that one person?
Is that not that shallow?
You're technically not falling in love/fell in love with a person, you're falling in love/fell in love with their looks. A whole person is so much more than just looks. What if you think you had a "It was love at first sight," moment but the other person is the complete opposite as you and you know that it could never work out after the first date?
That's why I think that the quote should be "Interest at first sight."
I am one of those people that say personality is more important than looks because if I had the choice of marrying someone that loves all the same things I do and we always have fun together but he looks like an average guy or marrying a supermodel that I have nothing in common with and it always feels awkward, I would chose the person who looks like an average guy.
I don't want to say looks aren't important, because in a way they are.
They spark interest in you to talk to someone. Everyone has their preferences related to looks whether it's hair or eye colour to size or height of the person, but no one should be made fun of for their looks. It's not something you can change on command and it's awful that people are still making them feel bad for how they look and making them feel worthless about themselves.
That's why I also think that it's important not to change your looks for anyone but yourself because someone will take interest in you.
Now if you are a believer that two people can fall in love at first sight, then that's awesome.
This is just my opinion on the matter, so please, I beg of you, do not feel as though you have to change your opinion of the quote. If I have influenced you and you understand what I'm saying, then so be it. I would just hate it if one of you changed your minds completely even though the reason as to why you fell in love with the quote and remember it is different from mine.
Everyone has different interpretations on different subjects. This just happens to be mine on a specific quote.

Being Body Positive
A study by the Dove Self-Esteem Project (DSEP) reveals that 47% of teen girls between the ages of 11 to 14 refuse to take part in activities that will show off their body in any way, such as swimming or performing in front of the school (drama class).
Almost half of the girls that took part of this study have low self esteem. The worst part is that these girls are in the age range of 11 to 14 years old. That's far to young to be worrying about body image, yet sadly, this is what society has come to.
I will admit that I've struggled with self esteem for awhile now. I'll share a little bit about my story and then say how I'm starting to build it back up.
As many others could relate to, I struggle to love certain body parts. I've never loved my stomach, my back or my shoulders. I was never confident about my weight.
When I started going to the gym, I was always uncomfortable because you see all these people walking past you, clearly haven been working out for years. You'd see anything from slim bodies to strong muscles, and yes, I was envious of others.
After a summer of the gym and swim training, I started to notice little changes about my body.
I was slightly slimmer, stronger arm and leg muscles, and so on. Although I was happy with my change...it's almost as if it wasn't enough.
I can't remember where I saw or heard these words, but I'd love to share them. Just know that they're not mine.
In the end, it doesn't matter what your body was like. We all have the same goal: to live life to the fullest and die with no regrets. When we're gone, we aren't remembered by what our bodies looked like, but we're remembered by the things we do and the people we reached out to.
Those words really helped me get through my low self-esteem and is currently still inspiring me everyday.
When you stand in front of the mirror and you start to think about all the things you want, reverse that.
Start off by saying one thing you love about yourself, whether its body or personality, and build yourself up. Start with one, say another, and another, and another.
If your makeup looks nice on a day, say it to yourself!
If your hair is how you want it to be, say it!
If your outfit is the nicest thing you'e ever seen, say it!
If you like your eyes, shout it out!
If you love your legs, make sure others know!
It's okay to not be 100% happy with your body right now, but you can build yourself up to that point.
Saying that you like something about yourself, you might not want to come across as vain, but why not? You're loving your body, the only one you will ever get, and I don't think that's a bad thing.
If there is a certain thing you don't like about yourself, there's always a solution. You don't have to think that it's horrible, you can find a solution! Find clothes that flatter your figure, you can dye your hair, you can use nail polish if you don't like your nails, do whatever will make you, and only you happy. Just remember that you don't have to go through drastic measures.
Now let's say this together:
It's okay to have flaws. I will come to love myself. It might not be soon, but it will happen.
I hope this might of have an impact on you guys as it did for me when I heard those words from before.

Don't Let Go of Love
Being on a sports' team, something you usually have to do is a fundraiser.
My team was selling raffle tickets over the weekend to win the prize of a one night stay at a hotel and a 100$ gift card to a fancy restaurant in the local area, and the draw for the prize will take place on February 13th, the day before Valentines Day.
During my shift yesterday, an elderly man came by to buy some tickets. He asked what the draw and everything was about, who he was supporting, what the prize was, and all of that typical stuff you expect to hear while trying to sell/raise money for something. At the end of it, I added "Draw date is February 13th, so it's right on time for Valentine's Day!"
He looked me in the eyes with a sad look upon his face and said "Well I lost the love of my life to ovarian cancer back in 1986 (I think that was the year he said, I can't remember that exactly). I did however find someone new, but it's not the same, you know? She's like a best friend to me, and I know that it's someone that she (referring to the love of his life that he lost) would've liked to known her."
I was speechless.
I have lost family members, yes, but to lose the love of your life, your soulmate, your other half, I couldn't imagine what that would be like.
In Greek mythology, it's believed that humans used to have four arms, four legs, four eyes, two noses, basically double of everything. Zeus was afraid that someday, the humans would be capable of overthrowing the Gods, so he split them all in half, resulting in one half to search for the other. To find their soulmate.
After all of that looking, this man found his other half, was ready to spend the rest of his life with her, but cancer ripped that away from him.
This was just another eye opener for me.
When I lost my grandfather on September 1st 2014, that was hard for me.
I didn't know how to feel, I didn't know what to do with myself, I didn't know when it was appropriate for me to cry, I didn't know what to do with all of the memories I have of him because I was afraid to lose them, and finally, I didn't know who to talk to about all of this.
"You can't close anyone out now...If anything this is the time to be close with your family. You need them and they need you. Having someone pass in your family shows you that you have to spend time with them and cherish it. You don't know how long the moment will last," is something that one of my friends told me when I confided in them how I felt, and I don't think that statement could be any truer.
Those two events taught me something.
If you love someone, whether its a family member, a friend, a lover or a role model in your life, make sure you tell them how much you appreciate them or that you love them. You have to hold onto the love you have now, because you never know when it's going to be ripped away from you, or when you might feel those feelings again.
If you have a crush on someone or you have a strong feeling for them, don't play hard to get. Maybe someday, you will just be too hard to get that the person that's chasing after will let you go.
If you have someone that loves you, I am begging you, grab onto that love with both hands and hold on. Hold on to it for as long as you can and don't ever let it go. Don't let it slip away, because hell, someday it might.
Love is such an amazing thing that we really do take for granted nowadays, but that elderly man with his story was a reminder to me to never let go of love, and I hope you take this post as a reminder.
If you're looking for a reason to tell someone you like them, call up your crush, tell your best friend how you truly feel about them...this is it.
Don't take love for granted because now, it's a rare thing, so don't let go of the people you love.
